Guimaras Island
Guimaras, considered one of the exotic islands in the Philippines was once a sub province of Iloilo. It is known for its nice beaches and unique tourist attractions. It is also the home to Trappist Monastery, the only one of its kind in the Philippines run by the Order of Cistersians of the Strict Observance. Guimaras Island is fast becoming famous for its “Pagtaltal sa Guimaras”, a Lenten Presentation on the hillside pf Jordan with locals as actors. This play has been attracting locals and tourists whose visit usually culminates in the trek to “Balaan Bukid” a place where a large cross and a chapel were constructed on top of a mountain offering a scenic view of Iloilo City across Guimaras Strait. |

Iloilo City
Iloilo is the oldest city and gateway to the flourishing region of Western Visayas. Centuries-old churches, watchtowers and ancestral mansions make Iloilo a virtual museum city and historical showcase. Miag-ao Church declared as national landmark in 1973 in UNESCO’s World Heritage List is located in Miag-ao, Iloilo City. Iloilo’s island hideaways – Nagarao, Naburot, and Sicigin with their white sand beaches and coral-rich waters, have become the favorite playgrounds of divers and beach lovers.
